Cross-sector collaboration: What’s working and what can we do better?

Book the next event here

This Culture Camp was about cross-sector collaboration, exploring what’s working and what can be done better.

In this session, we:

  • Learned about the foundational theories/concepts that can help you build a culture for productive collaboration
  • Learned from system colleagues who are improving outcomes for people in our communities by working together
  • Heard about practical strategies and methods for successfully collaborating across sectors
  • Explored questions, barriers and opportunities for applying this learning to your current work

Format

There was a main session with interactive elements, and small-group breakout activities to give you the opportunity to reflect on how you can apply concepts in your organisation. It was also an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from outside the area.

Speakers

This session was chaired by Juliette Kumar, Associate Director, Culture and Workforce at the Innovation Agency.

  • Jen Kohan, Head of the Coaching Academy at the Innovation Agency, presented a number of theories and research on cross-sector collaboration, as it most relates to health and care, and integrated care systems.
  • Dr Shashi Khandavalli, GP Partner, Clinical Director for Chorley Central PCN, and clinical lead for Determinants of Health at the Central Lancashire Place Based Partnership, spoke about the value of truely embedding oneself in the community to improve population health and how he has seen success in recent projects tackling health inequalities in Lancashire.
  • Caroline Hutton, Service Development Manager for Retain Wellbeing CIC, described how Independent Transfer of Care Coordinators are improving discharge of patients to care settings.

Who attended

This session was for health and social care professionals, especially those in leadership positions. We also welcomed interested staff from voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations.
