Health Innovation North West Coast is proud to announce its chosen charities for 2020: James’ Place in Liverpool, and North West Cancer Research.
The choice was made after all Innovation Agency staff were asked to propose charities, with over 20 nominations being made followed by a vote.
James’ Place opened in 2018 as a non-clinical centre for men experiencing suicidal crisis, the first of its kind in the UK. James’ Place was formed by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008, after they lost their 21-year-old son, James, to suicide.
North West Cancer Research is an independent charity which funds pioneering research to tackle the cause, improve the care and find a cure for cancer. The charity focuses on the types of cancer that most affect people living across North West England and North Wales.
A group of Innovation Agency staff are now coming up with plans for team and individual fundraising activities.
Innovation Agency Chief Executive Dr Liz Mear said: “James’ Place and North West Cancer Research are two charities which represent issues very close to the hearts of us all at the Innovation Agency.
“I’m very proud that all Innovation Agency staff have undertaken Zero Suicide training provided online by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust; while most of us have been touched by cancer.”
