MatNeo Safety Improvement Programme - Optimisation Collaborative Event

Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Maternity Neonatal Safety Improvement Programme (MatNeoSIP) and the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (NWNODN) are running an interactive study day as part of our optimisation of the preterm infant week.

Why is this important?

Collaboratively, MatNeoSIP and the NWNODN, have been supporting maternity and neonatal teams across the North West to implement the optimisation of the preterm infant care bundle. There is stong evidence that babies who receive all aspects of the care bundle have better outcomes.

A focus for this year will be supporting teams to implement the optimisation care bundle as a pathway approach to ensure babies receive all eligible interventions. Two new interventions are also being introduced:

Ensure Caffeine is started within 24 hours of birth for all babies born at <30+0 weeks gestation

Ensure Volume-Targeted Ventilation in combination with synchronised ventilation as the primary mode of respiratory support is given to babies born at <34+0 weeks gestation.

The event

Liverpool Women’s Hospital will host the event which will showcase excellence from across the region in implementing the preterm infant care bundle. There will be interactive workshops during the afternoon focusing on both the obstetric and neonatal elements of the care bundle, including a session on volume-guarantee ventilation.

It is important for you and your teams to attend this event and contribute to the sharing of learning to ensure the best outcomes for our preterm babies across the North West.

This is an invite only event for optimisation teams. To register your interest, please email: amanda.andrews@innovationagencynwc.nhs.uk
