The NHS in the North - Excellence in Supply Awards 2019

Nominations are now open for the NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards 2019

The awards recognise the work of businesses, third sector bodies and the NHS in working together to provide great patient care. They are open to any business which currently supplies goods, works or services to NHS trusts in the North of England, and any NHS trust in the North of England.

The deadline for nominations is 28 June.

The shortlist will be announced in July.

The awards will take place on the evening of Thursday 17 October at The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. Suppliers can enter for more than one category providing a different project is used for each nomination. The initiative must meet the award criteria set out in the award description. Higher marks will be awarded where evidence or data is provided and results are supported.

Winners will receive a certificate and trophy, and authority to issue an agreed press release. All winners will be published on our website.

Award Categories

Acute Sector Award

 

We are looking for a supplier that has provided goods or services to an acute trust that have used innovation to support patient care and/or improved efficiency within the trust.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiative and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
 

Clinical Innovation Award

 

We are looking for a supplier who can demonstrate how their company has utilised clinical innovation to improve a product, process or service to transform or enhance patient care and improved efficiency within northern trusts.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiative and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
 
Mental Health & Community Sector Award

 

We are looking for a supplier that has provided goods or services to a community or mental health trust that have produced a positive outcome for patient care and/or environment.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiatives and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
Non-Clinical Innovation Award

 

We are looking for a supplier who can demonstrate how their company has utilised a non-clinical innovation to improve a product, process or service to transform or enhance patient care and improved efficiency within northern trusts.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiatives and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
Patient Experience Award

 

We are looking for a supplier that has provided goods or services that have enhanced the patient experience. This could be in a hospital, out in the community or in a mental health setting.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiatives and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
Small Business Award

 

We are looking for a Small Medium Enterprise supplier that has maintained consistent growth and strong financial performance, whilst making a significant contribution to the trust(s) they supply.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiatives and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
Support Services Award

 

We are looking for companies that provide support to the NHS in order to help maintain the quality of service. Previous finalists have included interpreter services, IT consulting/support services and consultant psychologists.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiatives and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
Sustainable Development Award

 

We are looking for a supplier that can demonstrate initiatives that have been developed to minimise their impact on the environment. This could include reduced carbon emissions, packaging or energy.      

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • How the initiative addressed one or more of the three pillars of sustainability; economic, environment or social
  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiatives and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results that have been achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency or cost savings
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
 
Value Based Procurement Award

 

We are looking for a supplier that can demonstrate that they have supplied a product or service to a trust in the north of England delivering “value” through; reduced total pathway costs; quantifiable efficiency improvements; quantifiable direct or indirect benefits to patient outcomes.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiatives and why it was implemented

NHS Awards

NHS Procurement Rising Star

 

We are looking for a Head of Procurement to nominate an individual from a procurement team who demonstrates qualities that single them out as a future procurement leader in the NHS. 

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A brief description of the nominee's role within the organisation
  • Innovative ways of working the individual has displayed
  • Leadership qualities the individual has displayed
  • Impact and results they’ve achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency, cost savings or culture change
NHS Supplier Engagement

 

We are looking for suppliers to nominate an NHS procurement team from within the North which has developed and enhanced collaborative working relationships with suppliers.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Brief description of your company and its involvement with the NHS Trust(s)
  • How the nominated team has demonstrated a collaborative way of working
  • Impact and results their approach has achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency, cost savings or culture change
  • How your organisation plans to develop or sustain the relationship
NHS Procurement Champion

 

We are looking for NHS procurement teams to nominate a member of staff within their organisation who has gone the extra mile to work collaboratively with procurement departments.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A brief description of the nominee's role within the organisation
  • How the nominee has demonstrated a collaborative way of working with procurement
  • Impact and results their approach has achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency, cost savings or culture change
NHS Procurement Innovation

 

We are looking for an NHS procurement team that has successfully applied an innovative project in their trust.

Your submission should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • How the project has resulted in new ways of working to improve patient outcomes, supplier relationships, efficiencies and cost savings
  • The purpose, aims and objectives of the initiative and why it was implemented
  • Impact and results their approach has achieved to date which could include effects on productivity, efficiency, cost savings or culture change
  • How you plan to develop or sustain the work
